Write a rainbow

Writing a rainbow

Colours and rainbows are two more of my favourite things and I love to use colour as inspiration for writing. There are so many ways to play with colour as a writer.

It’s really easy to write a rainbow. Just write one line for each colour of the rainbow, like this:

Red is the colour of………………………………………………………………….

Orange is………………………………………………………………………………….

Yellow reminds me of……………………………………………………………..

Green is like……………………………………………………………………………

Blue is the colour of………………………………………………………………

Indigo is ………………………………………………………………………………..

Violet is like…………………………………………………………………………

Maybe, once you’ve written your ideas out, you could write them in different colours or make them into a rainbow shape. Poems don’t have to be written in black and white in straight lines. Some poems want to be free to wander over the page and some poems want to be in colour!

Or, you could just choose one colour to write about.
